Lebanese Individual Blitz Chess Championship 2012

Lebanese Individual Blitz Chess Championship 2012

Youth Domination!!!!

And yes! They did it, and for the three steps of the podium. It is another sign that something has started to happen in Lebanese chess, as was shown in the final standing of the national individual blitz championship, which was held last Sunday at the Salahiyeh Ayyoubiyeh School, and were more than 70 participants took part of. The winner was no other than FM Amr ElJawish, scoring 8 out of 9 points, the youngest player in the history of Lebanese chess to win the individual normal chess championship in 2010 at age of 15!!! The runner up was the young Mahdi Kaouri, and the second runner up was no other than the youngest Fide Master of Lebanon, Ibrahim Shahrour, where each of them scored a deserved 7 points.

It is important to notice that the young Adnan Khalil took the 4th place on tie break, with 7 points, as did the experienced FM Ahmad Najjar for the 5th place with the same number of points.

The 6th place was taken by the current champion of normal chess FM Faisal Khairallah with 6.5 points. This disappointed result  is another proof that playing different chess types are making ways to unknown and/or talented players to express and to proof themselves on the chess scenes, especially, as promised by the Fide , that very soon, the Rapid and Blitz chess events will be subjected to rating effect!!!!
