Lebanese U18 & U20 championships 2012

The hope of the new generation

Though it was a little bit moved to the late of June, and limited number of participants in each category(7 in U18, and 6 in U20), as the round Robin system was adopted in each one, the 2 events were successful.

The events were held in the playing hall of Ararat Chess Club, managed by Mr. Nazaret Seukunian, and were nicely arbitrated by Mr. Ali ElJawish.

The experienced Michel Adeimi won the U18 category with the perfect score 6 out of 6!! In second place came Joe Khairallah with 3.5, and Sarah ElHouchaimi (yes!!) in third place with 3 points.

The U20 event was a little bit different, where FM Amr ElJawish started with a straight 3 wins in the first 3 rounds, then calmed down by drawing the last 2, guaranteeing the winning of the U20 championship. It is important to note that Amr age can permit him to play in the U18 event, but he was targeting for more!

Came in the second place the talented FM Ibrahim Chahrour with 3.5 points (0 losses). The 3rd place was shared with Mohammad Salman, Mehdi Kaouri and Razmik Oknayan, with 2.5 each. But the tie-break used in the event put Salman as favorite for the bronze medal.

At the end, I present to our readers some games from  both championships:
